TRAINING CAMP
The first annual Easter Bowl Training Camp will take place a week prior to the next Easter Bowl Junior National Championships in the spring. A limited number of spots are available and the Training Camp is open to Easter Bowl-eligible boys and girls players only in the 18s and 16s age divisions.
The seven-day court-training intensive camp will run from April 3-9, 2010, and will be held at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, site of the Easter Bowl tournament scheduled for April 11-18.
The cost of the camp is $1,500 per player for the week and includes housing , transportation to and from host residence to the courts, and meals. Space is limited so early sign-ups are encouraged.
A typical day would consist of physio and on-court warm-up and drills from 9:30 a.m. till noon. From noon to 2 p.m. there will be a break for lunch with supervised match play set from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. players will have open court time.
The camp will be run by Easter Bowl Executive Director Bryan Fineberg with Rancho Las Palmas Director of Tennis Kevin Connolly and his teaching staff providing the on-court instruction. There will also be selected seminars throughout the week where the players will learn from the coaching staff on different topics involving health, fitness and the physio aspects of tennis.
"We're excited to offer the first-ever Easter Bowl Training Camp," Fineberg said. "It's something we've talked about doing for some time now. Myself, Kevin and his staff are ready to make it happen."
